Fake Tandoori Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion
  • 6 whole garlic cloves
  • 2" piece ginger root, peeled
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice
  • 16 oz. plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp mace
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp cloves
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper, freshly ground
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper, or crushed red pepper
  • 2 whole chickens, cut in pieces

Method

Remove skin from chicken. Score meat. Blend all other ingredients. Cover chicken pieces with the sauce. Allow to marinate overnight. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spread out chicken pieces in a baking dish. Bake for about 45 minutes or until done. This recipe can also be cooked on the grill. Baste with marinade. Serves 6.
